I would like to share with you some thoughts about catching the attention of your readers by having an opening statement that will draw attention. First of all start your post by sharing some interesting statistical evidence. Many people like to deal with numbers and especially if you have some shocking or surprising data to share, you will gain the attention of your readers. It might not be easy to attain such data, but if you posses any or know where to obtain interesting statistics, this might be a really great opening sentence. You can also use an analogy to capture the readers attention. Analogies are great tool to provoke mental imagery that will make your readers more involved in reading your post.

When it comes to blogging an important decision that we, bloggers have to face is deciding in which niche will our blog be. Some people do it consciously, others do it without even knowing it, but all of us in some way decide what do we want to blog about. It is tempting to start a blog in a niche that we believe is popular as we will expect many visitors to flock to our website. Unfortunately this is not always true, as starting a blog about politics would normally attract many people, but you should take into account that the competition is very steep. That is why it is a good idea to consider different niches, even those that you think nobody would be interested in. Go to your local library and take a look at home many magazines are available and you must agree that many of the topics do not seem interesting to an average person like bathroom magazines for example. Having said that if magazines like this exist on the market, it means that there is a need for them. This applies to blogs as well.

Ever wondered how you can check if you are addicted to blogging? Here are some signs you might be:
You check your blog stats a whenever you can. Sometimes you get up in the middle of the night and sneak a peak.
You suffer from “blog envy” when other bloggers posts something juicy before you do – even if they are your friends.
You think, “I can stop at any time” and you are convinced of it.
You “mental blog” while driving or on the train, and sometimes even when you are alone in the shower.
Your significant other suspects that you are having an affair with your blog. Even when you’re alone with your special person, you do find yourself thinking what your blog might be doing right then.

On one of my other blogs I am using pMetrics Performancing, a tool to track your visitors on your blog which is generally considered to be a lot better than Google Analytics. I am using the free version, so even if I would not like it (but I will) I would not lose any money. I only had to install a plugin to make it work on my Wordpress blog, but if you have any other site you can still track all of the information online. So here is what pMetrics offers:

It seems that many bloggers these days are putting ads on their website to earn some money. A lot of them use Google Adsense, so I will focus on it in this post. Choosing a Blog Name

Lately I heard an opinion that it is a good idea when the blog name is the same as the domain name. The reason for this is mainly search engine optimization. If your blog name is the same as domain name there is very little confusion when linking to you. People are simply going to use your blog name as the anchor text. On the other hand if your domain name and blog name will differ, there would be some people linking to you with your websites URL anchor text. While that would not be a disaster it would not benefit SEO. There is also another reason – it is easy to remember a domain name that is identical to the blogs name. Simple as that.
